The Marine Biology Laboratory of the University of Seville, led by Dr. José Carlos García Gómez, was created in 1988 and affiliated to the Andalusian Research Plan (RNM-136) and also manages the facilities linked to the University of Seville Biology Faculty, the Seville Aquarium (Biological R&D&I Research Area) and Marine Biology Station of Ceuta.
The Port Authority of Melilla (APM) is the public body with legal personality and its own assets responsible from managing both the Port of Melilla and Chafarinas and whose attributions and functioning are regulated by the Law of State Ports and Merchant Marine. The APM is dedicated especially to the traffic of goods, being essentially a receiving port, the traffic of passengers and vehicles and sportive acitivities.
